Taylor Faye of Moth+Moon Community is a multidisciplinary artist, grief worker, and lover of all things dark, dreary, and/or salty. She has collected inspiration from the many phases of her life, from her days as a preschool-teaching ASL interpreter for a doomsday cult, to her days on the road in the fetid tour van of her now-deceased boyfriend’s Satanic black metal band. So unsurprisingly, her art often references styles from black and death metal art, baroque-era cathedrals of Portugal, and studies in tarot, esotericism, and theosophy. She did not have the opportunity or support to attend college as a teen and instead dropped out of high school to donate her labor for seven years to the community that would eventually demonize her. Since gaining self respect through leaving, however, she has embraced a wide variety of opportunities to learn and grow as an artist in skill and in heart outside of a formal education. In 2021 she had two near-death experiences that solidified her determination to prioritize her creative expression and she has since donated her time as a volunteer grief group facilitator in her community and sells her handmade art at local markets to fellow sad people in New England.
